Realization of a conceptual art project translated
into a comprehensive multi-media installation.
A recent project, -THE GENE POOL, is based on the conception
that the worldís farthest developed and industrialized information
societies, seem to breed serial killers. The dissociation of the family
and work place, the anonymity of individual lives, the fast change of
scenery and action due to a never before existing mobility, instant
media coverage and an unheard of history of child abuse and neglect,
all seem to play a part.
It is the latter that I am researching in THE GENE POOL: Why have some heavily
abused children gotten out of this hell and why have others turned into serial killers?
Is there a weak link in the GENE POOL?
The main hall will be featuring a comprehensive multi-media installation.
It will include the Gene Pool drawings on paper that can be lifted
individually by the public and will reveal a bibliography of serial
murder underneath; rolling ladders will permit the public to access
different heights to view the various drawings.
On each of the individual drawings is the name of one serial killer
at the top, in the middle their number of killings, and at the bottom
the nickname that was given to that individual killer by the press or
the law enforcement agencies that were involved in the investigation.
